Tax Specialist – Remote | U.S. Tax, 1040, 1120, 1065 & Compliance
Position Type: Full-Time, Remote

About the Role
At Pavago, one of our clients is hiring an experienced Tax Specialist to manage U.S. federal and state tax preparation, compliance, and tax planning for individual and business clients.
You’ll work across Form 1040, 1120, and 1065 filings, quarterly estimates, extensions, regulatory compliance, and tax advisory while maintaining accurate, audit-ready documentation.
If you have strong experience with U.S. tax preparation, IRS compliance, and tax software such as UltraTax, ProSeries, Drake, or Lacerte, this role is a strong fit.
What You’ll Own
U.S. Tax Preparation & Filing
•
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including:
•
Form 1040 – Individual
•
Form 1120 – Corporate
•
Form 1065 – Partnership
•
Prepare quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions
•
Review filings for accuracy and completeness
•
Ensure returns are submitted accurately and on time
•
Manage multiple client filings and deadlines simultaneously
Tax Compliance
•
Monitor changes to IRS rules and U.S. tax regulations
•
Maintain compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions
•
Support compliance involving:
•
Sales tax
•
Payroll tax
•
Property tax
•
Maintain organized supporting documentation for filings
Tax Planning & Advisory
•
Identify potential tax-saving opportunities
•
Evaluate available credits and deductions
•
Support tax-efficient transaction and entity planning
•
Provide practical tax insights to clients and internal teams
•
Assist with international tax matters such as FBAR, FATCA, and transfer pricing when applicable
IRS Notices & Audit Support
•
Prepare documentation for IRS and state tax audits
•
Assist with responses to tax notices and inquiries
•
Research and resolve tax discrepancies
•
Maintain clear, audit-ready records
Accounting & External Coordination
•
Collaborate with accounting and finance teams during close cycles
•
Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and tax advisors
•
Ensure accounting information supports accurate tax filings
Documentation & Process Improvement
•
Maintain tax compliance calendars and SOPs
•
Document tax positions, assumptions, and filing decisions
•
Improve workflows for tax preparation and review
•
Maintain organized client tax records
Requirements
•
3+ years of U.S. tax preparation and compliance experience
•
Hands-on experience preparing 1040, 1120, and 1065 tax returns
•
Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations
•
Experience with tax preparation software such as:
•
UltraTax
•
ProSeries
•
Drake
•
Lacerte
•
Similar professional tax software
•
Familiarity with IRS e-filing systems and state tax portals
•
Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
•
Excellent analytical and organizational abilities
•
Strong written and verbal English communication
•
Ability to manage multiple tax deadlines accurately
•
Comfortable working remotely during U.S. business hours
Nice to Have
•
CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA)
•
Master’s degree in Taxation
•
Multi-state tax experience
•
International tax exposure
•
Experience with FBAR / FATCA
•
Experience supporting high-net-worth individuals or closely held businesses
•
Tax experience within real estate, SaaS, or professional services
