Bachelor’s degree in Power System Technology, Electrical Technology, Computer Science, Mechanical Technology or a related technical field preferred. Master’s degree in Education (High School Level) or related experience in formal training and experience in instructional skills and training methods desired. Associate degree or equivalent experience with relevant certifications required.

Five years of related technical or scientific/engineering training experience.
•
Demonstrated ability to deliver training to a technical trade school or junior college level.
•
Working knowledge of the use of Energy Management or control system software.
•
Working knowledge of the use of a Simulator application for Training.
•
Documented experience conducting power system related training, power system operation or instructional design experience for technical topics desired.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
NERC Reliability Certification preferred. Successful applicants will be required to earn a NERC Reliability Certification within six months of joining the NYISO.
Accredited trainer documentation and/or educational certification (AMA, Langevin, Navy Master Training Specialist or equivalent) preferred.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, operational criteria documents, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff and external industry partners.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical and complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral, diagram or schedule form.

Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment using MS Office applications including PowerPoint, e-mail and browser programs.
