Responsibilities
•
Establish Automation Frameworks: Define and build reusable test automation patterns, custom harnesses, and tools for backend services and web applications.
•
Pipeline Integration: Create, package, and integrate automated test suites into our CI/CD pipelines for continuous, repeatable execution.
•
Code Refactoring & Testability: Modify and refactor application source code—especially legacy backend microservices—to improve testability and eliminate coverage bottlenecks.
•
Feature Test Strategy: Work closely with product and backend engineering teams to translate feature requirements into thorough automated test scenarios.
•
Root Cause Analysis: Dig directly into codebase mechanics to diagnose root causes of failures rather than simply reporting surface-level errors.
•
Targeted Unit & Integration Coverage: Complement engineering-driven unit testing by identifying coverage gaps in legacy systems and adding high-value unit and integration tests.
Requirements
•
Senior or Principal-level Software Development Engineer in Test profile with a strong combination of QA and software engineering capabilities.
•
Must-Have Qualifications
•
QA and Software Engineer Mindset: Strong QA mentality combined with solid software engineering skills, including the ability to navigate, debug, and refactor existing application codebases.
•
Strong TypeScript Proficiency: Deep hands-on experience using TypeScript across both front-end and back-end application layers.
•
Cloud Platform Experience: Hands-on experience working with at least one major cloud provider ecosystem (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure).
•
CI/CD & Packaging: Proven ability to package test artifacts and manage automated execution within CI/CD deployment pipelines.
•
Front-End Automation: Experience automating web interfaces (Next.js) in TypeScript using Playwright (experience with Cypress is accepted as a direct transferable skill).
•
Strongly Preferred & Nice-to-Have
•
Experience building custom backend test harnesses and microservice automation using Node.js / TypeScript.
•
Familiarity with lightweight API testing tools (e.g., Kmeter, k6, Postman, or REST API frameworks).
•
Experience with containerized environments (GCP, GKE) and editing simple Kubernetes YAML manifests.
•
Exposure to Python or C# for maintaining legacy utilities.
•
Experience or interest in 12V embedded IoT devices, access control systems, or virtualized Linux environments.
•
Familiarity with AI-assisted development/testing workflows and mobile ecosystems (Swift / Kotlin).
