Reporting to the Senior Digital Producer, Sports, you’ll gather and process news from the local and national sports scene. You’ll be expected to create content for all Radio-Canada platforms. You’ll be responsible for writing copy and producing video for digital platforms as well as contributing to Le Téléjournal Ottawa-Gatineau, live or pre-recorded radio newscasts and programs. You may also be required to work on national programs.
The greater Ottawa-Gatineau area is home to a large number of Canada’s national and multi-sport organizations and professional, college and university sports teams. It offers an extensive range of possibilities for stories about the region’s sporting life, leisure and outdoor activities. Do you have a passion for sports, local sporting life, physical activity and all the accompanying trends? Do you take an inclusive, people-first approach to sports reporting so that your content can be enjoyed by a wider audience including women and diverse communities? Do you have a network of contacts in the sporting world on both the Ottawa and Gatineau sides of the region or has your past experience demonstrated your ability to develop and maintain sources? Do you like to propose original stories while staying up to date on what’s happening every day? Then this position is for you!
You must be able to work independently, have excellent organizational skills, be highly creative and possess sound editorial judgment. You’ll prepare, align, set up and operate various cameras and ancillary equipment, ensuring optimal audio and video quality under prevailing conditions. Work is governed by CBC/Radio-Canada programming policies and Journalistic Standards and Practices. When needed, you may be asked to lend a hand in the newsroom as a general news videojournalist.
