Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. The Balance of Plant Commissioning Engineer’s role will evolve during the lifecycle of the project and combine technical knowledge with project delivery skills. At the early stages you will contribute to detailed planning and preparation, including reviewing contractor produced
commissioning documentation. Following this, you will execute commissioning tests and conduct surveillance on contractor-led activities as part of a team and analyse the results to justify the readiness of the HPC units to safely enter commercial operation.
As a Commissioning Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of test specifications and safety documentation during preparation for commissioning. You will perform site testing safely and effectively, assist with the analysis of commissioning results, resolve problems and take responsibility for ensuring that deliverables supporting HPC commissioning are provided on time, in accordance with the Project’s requirements. This will include giving support to contract partners and taking part in contractual review and acceptance activities.
