WHO WE ARE
Intrepid College Prep is a network of free, college preparatory public charter schools located in the Antioch area of Greater Nashville, Tennessee. We educate scholars at two campuses: Opportunity Academy Middle School and Independence Academy High School. Our 5-12 model ensures that scholars have the opportunity to engage in a rigorous, college-preparatory education for eight years prior to their transition to college and the professional opportunities that follow. We are an open-enrollment school, which means that our scholars do not have to take an entrance test or pay tuition to enroll.

Instructional Coaching at Intrepid College Prep Schools
Intrepid College Prep recognizes the need for teachers to have phenomenal instructional leaders and seeks the right candidate to support teachers in their pursuit of high student growth and achievement. The Assistant Principal of STEM will work with the Principal and other Assistant Principals to build a school culture where mastery of standards, achievement data, and teacher development are used to achieve breakthrough learning for all students. The Assistant Principal of STEM will lead teacher development through meeting facilitation, observations, and providing coaching and feedback to teachers.
Assistant Principal of STEM Duties and Responsibilities:
•
Assist the Principal with oversight of curriculum development and improvement, student assessment (internal and external), and teacher development.
•
Supervise the daily instructional work of teachers on coaching load.
•
Conduct teacher observations and provide immediate feedback on performance based on pre-determined criteria of success
•
Communicate regularly with the Principal concerning student achievement, teacher development and evaluation and curriculum design.
•
Collaborate with Instructional Coach, other Assistant Principals, Executive Principal and Senior Director of Academics to use systems for data analysis and data action following all internal and external assessments.
•
Model instructional strategies to improve student engagement, comprehension, and develop an effective instructional environment.
•
Ensure alignment between teachers’ classroom actions and the school’s mission and educational philosophy.
•
Work with teachers to problem-solve specific instructional challenges.
•
Provide coaching and support to staff based on survey data, observation data, and student outcomes.
•
Facilitate and provide staff development touchpoints for teachers and fellow leaders.
•
Observe and document staff performance, providing actionable feedback.
•
Availability and willingness to participate in after-school programs.
•
Availability and willingness to engage in a limited number of optional, evening/weekend student recruitment and community outreach events.
Successful Assistant Principal of STEM candidates possess the following characteristics:

The ability to give constructive feedback to facilitate student growth and academic achievement.
•
Openness to receiving feedback for personal and professional growth.

Experience in managing, leading, and motivating adults.

A background as an experienced classroom teacher with demonstrated, quantifiable, and objective student performance gains surpassing state or local averages.

High levels of organization and initiative in problem-solving.
•
Knowledge, commitment, and grit, with a readiness to take on challenges and a persistent pursuit of academic excellence.

Evidence of the ability to reflect and articulate lessons learned from past experiences.

Compensation
We offer a generous compensation package, including full health benefits. All staff members are equipped with the tools needed to succeed, including a dedicated work space, laptop computer, email, high-speed internet access, and all necessary supplies. Compensation is highly competitive; teachers are eligible to participate in the MNPS Retirement System.
Base salaries are determined by the ICP salary scale. Placement on the salary scale is determined by years of relevant, teaching experience. We do not negotiate salaries because of research that demonstrates the resulting impact of inequitable pay, primarily for women and people of color. Placement on the salary scale is solely determined by relevant experience.
Starting salary (Year 0) for a certified teacher with zero years of experience starts at $53,000. Please reach out to the hiring team for inquires regarding the salary scale.
