Get to Know the Opportunity
Voya Investment Management is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and leadership-minded professional to join our Investment Data & Analytics Team as an Investment Security Referential Senior Analyst, with responsibility for both private and public security masters and an emphasis on private credit, senior loans, bank loans, and other complex fixed income instruments. In this senior role, you will own key components of our security master and referential data program, with particular focus on accurately capturing private credit deal structures, funded and unfunded commitments, delayed draw and multi-part funding arrangements, amendments, lifecycle events, and downstream impacts across investment, accounting, risk, compliance, and portfolio management workflows. You will partner closely with investment analysts, portfolio managers, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Technology, and external data providers to resolve complex issues, define standards, and influence outcomes. The ideal candidate brings strong public and private markets security master experience, valuable domain knowledge of private credit and loan instruments, excellent judgment, and a desire to grow into broader leadership opportunities through mentoring, leading initiatives, and elevating team practices.
The Contributions You Will Make

Leadership Responsibilities: Act as a team lead, provide day-to-day team leadership by guiding priorities, answering complex questions, mentoring teammates, and driving consistent execution and quality.

Data Quality Leadership: Lead cyclical reviews of security master data to ensure accuracy and adherence to established policies, procedures, and controls. Proactively monitor changes in securities data (e.g., credit rating and coupon changes), drive timely updates, and help set team standards for quality and documentation.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities: Lead cyclical reviews of security master data to ensure accuracy and adherence to established policies, procedures, and controls. Enterprise Data Management & Governance: Drive the creation and enhancement of data quality monitoring rules and logic used to capture suspicious data conditions. Apply deep knowledge of investment data EDM practices to improve controls, partner with technology and data teams on implementation, and champion best practices across the function.

Private and Public Security Master Setup: Own setup and independent review of security masters for both private and public assets, with particular emphasis on private credit, senior loans, bank loans, and other complex fixed income instruments. Ensure nuanced instrument terms, classifications, identifiers, issuer/borrower details, tranche structure, coupon conventions, commitment treatment, and downstream impacts are captured accurately.

Private Credit Deal Structure Expertise: Analyze private credit deal documentation and operational data to understand complex deal structures, including funded and unfunded facilities, delayed draw term loans, revolvers, multi-part fundings, add-on fundings, amendments, restructurings, paydowns, and rollovers. Translate these terms into accurate referential data requirements and sustainable setup practices.

Funded and Unfunded Deal Oversight: Lead reviews of funded and unfunded private credit instruments to ensure appropriate representation of commitments, drawdowns, availability, parent-child relationships, funded parent logic, multi-CUSIP structures, and downstream reporting or analytics impacts.
•
Vendor Referential Data Oversight: Lead reconciliations to ensure accurate setup of security master data within vendor systems. Coordinate and prioritize changes across multiple service vendors, escalate recurring issues, and influence vendor and internal partners toward durable fixes.
•
Market Data Provider Partnership: Serve as a primary point of contact with vendors to resolve security-level data questions for key attributes. Perform advanced research and validation to ensure consistency across sources, and recommend improvements to sourcing, workflows, and controls.
•
Senior Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with Risk, Investment Teams, Compliance, Technology, and Operations on daily production needs and strategic initiatives. Communicate clearly, influence decisions, and represent the security master function in cross-team forums.
•
Investment Asset & Data Domain Expertise: Leverage strong knowledge of public securities, private credit markets, senior loans, bank loans, structured products, and security master data to improve data definitions, attribute standards, instrument classifications, and downstream usability for investment, accounting, risk, compliance, and client-facing teams.
•
Issue Management & Escalation: Investigate data quality issues impacting investment workflows; coordinate resolution across teams as required. Perform targeted reviews of previously set up security masters, identify systemic gaps, and recommend preventive controls and process changes.
•
Key Initiatives: Lead and/or co-lead ad hoc projects that improve data quality, operating efficiency, and governance. Provide guidance to junior team members and help coordinate workstreams to deliver outcomes on time.
•
Client/Customer Data Requests: Own intake, prioritization, and delivery of investment data requests from key customers (e.g., traders, portfolio managers, sales, and client service). Translate questions into clear data actions, communicate status/risks, and ensure high-quality outcomes.
•
Structured Problem Solving: Lead investigations of recurring data issues using root-cause analysis to ensure causes are understood, documented, and addressed. Drive preventive solutions (process, control, vendor, and/or system changes) to reduce rework and operational risk.
•
Continuous Team Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen issues management, processes, and controls; recommend and implement enhancements that elevate quality and scalability. Contribute to onboarding and informal coaching, helping build team capability and consistency.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience
•
Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, data management, or a related field required; advanced degree or relevant professional certification a plus.
•
10+ years of experience in investment management, financial services, or capital markets data required, with demonstrated progression into senior ownership, advisory, or leadership responsibilities.
•
7+ years of hands-on security master, referential data, or investment data operations experience required, including ownership of both private and public security master data, complex instrument setup, exception management, data quality controls, and cross-functional issue resolution; experience with private credit and loan instruments strongly preferred.
•
Advanced working knowledge of investment platforms and market data tools such as BlackRock Aladdin and Bloomberg required; experience assessing downstream impacts across accounting, compliance, risk, trading, and portfolio management workflows strongly preferred.
•
Deep understanding of private credit markets and loan instruments strongly preferred, including senior loans, bank loans, direct lending, funded and unfunded commitments, delayed draw structures, revolvers, multi-part fundings, tranche-level attributes, amendments, paydowns, and lifecycle events, along with strong working knowledge of public fixed income and other investment asset classes
•
Ability to interpret private credit and loan deal documentation, credit agreements, term sheets, notices, and funding instructions to determine accurate security master setup, identifier relationships, coupon conventions, commitment treatment, and downstream data impacts.
•
Proven ability to operate with senior-level judgment in a fast-paced environment, balancing daily production priorities, escalations, control requirements, and strategic improvement initiatives.
•
Demonstrated leadership capabilities, whether formal or informal, including mentoring team members, guiding priorities, influencing stakeholders, driving decisions, and leading workstreams, projects, or process improvements
•
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data topics into clear business impacts and drive alignment across Investment, Risk, Compliance, Technology, Operations, and vendor partners.
•
Strong ownership mindset with a track record of identifying root causes, resolving recurring issues, strengthening controls, and implementing sustainable process improvements.
•
Strategic and analytical thinker with strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills; able to connect detailed data issues to broader operating model, governance, and risk management objectives.
•
Advanced Excel and intermediate SQL skills required, including the ability to analyze large datasets, validate exceptions, support reconciliations, and communicate findings clearly; API or automation experience a plus.
•
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, data quality tools, workflow tools, or enterprise data management platforms a plus.
•
Experience using or helping design agentic AI workflows, automation, or AI-enabled data quality processes a plus.
•
Interest in or progress toward CFA, CIPM, CAIA, FRM, or another relevant investment, data, or risk-focused credential a plus.

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
