This role suits people passionate about AI and about reinventing software engineering to deliver faster, higher-quality products. You will join a team exploring every day how to evolve our ways of working to be AI-First and what’s possible with rapidly advancing LLMs and AI coding tools.
As an AI-Native Engineer, you will build AI-powered products and solutions for our clients, contributing across the journey from discovery and scoping through pilot and production to adoption.
The work is varied: deploying an agentic AI workflow inside a major health insurer, standing up an AI-powered platform for a bank, or designing intelligent automation for a public sector agency. Our clients are Fortune 1000s across financial services, health, and the public sector, and the problems are real, ambiguous, and production-bound.
The foundation is full-stack engineering: you work across frontend and backend, and you’re building your range across product, architecture, and infrastructure. We expect daily use of AI coding tools such as GHCP, Claude Code, Cursor or Codex to generate most of your requirements, code, and architecture diagrams, at least on side projects and ideally day-to-day.
You will think and build like a product engineer, not just think about the code. These are not staff augmentation placements: you contribute to taking a product from journey to pilot to production, and you care as much about whether it gets adopted and creates value as whether the code is elegant.
This is a hands-on engineering role within a consulting environment. You will work alongside client engineering, product, and domain teams, helping translate business problems into working systems that deliver measurable impact. You will be AI-native by default, applying PALO IT’s Gen-e2TM methodology to drive quality, speed, and adoption. With Gen-e2TM we generate the large majority of the product with AI and deliver end-to-end 2-3x faster than traditional approaches. AI generates; engineers own. Your judgement and standards are what make the output production-grade, and we will train you to work with AI as part of your daily development workflow.
This role is based in Sydney. We operate a hybrid model with three days per week in our Sydney office or on client site, with the balance worked flexibly.
You’ll work in small, high-performing interdisciplinary teams with pair programming, weekly knowledge-sharing sessions, and a supportive engineering community. As you grow, you’ll spend increasing time with clients: gathering requirements, contributing in discovery sessions, and communicating your thinking clearly. If you enjoy seeing your work land with the people who use it, you’ll thrive here.
