Essential Responsibilities:
The Instructional Coach will support educators on-site up to four days a week with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparing to meet the needs of educators. This position will follow NYCPS’s district calendar. Most weeks will be 40 hour work weeks, though the Instructional Coach will support the Amplify PD team on department-wide initiatives on days that NYCPS teachers have off (holidays, winter break, summer break, school cancellations, etc.). Support will vary, but may include designing and/or delivering PD throughout the summer and during breaks to NYCPS and other districts.
In this role, you will collaborate with district/school leadership and the Amplify Associate Director of Professional Development assigned to NYCPS to determine the strategy, focus, and coaching approach for different times of the year. You will also partner with regional/school leadership to adjust course, as needed, with an eye toward improving student outcomes. An outcomes-centered orientation and the ability to pivot on short notice are necessary for this role.
The Instructional Coach’s daily responsibilities will be determined along with their manager, based on the district’s goals and priorities throughout the year. Specific areas of focus may include, but are not limited to:

Lead professional learning around Amplify Caminos and mCLASS Lectura.
•
Work with groups of educators in schools and districts to enhance implementation, set goals, and plan literacy instruction, based on assessment and implementation data
•
Facilitate trainings for groups of up to 150 teachers and/or leaders
•
Support school leaders in interpreting implementation health, identified areas of need, and planning for school and classroom supports accordingly
•
Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers
•
Collaborate with the Amplify team working in the district
•
Communicate thoughtfully and proactively with school and district contacts
•
Consult with and provide school and district contacts with recommendations on how to best support educators using Amplify’s Spanish literacy products
•
Design and communicate strategic supports to educators at key times of the year
•
Support NYCPS parent and community communication regarding the implementation
•
Participate in Amplify coaching meetings and internal trainings
•
Support Amplify’s internal team with the design of standard and custom PD projects that include, but are not limited to: google slide decks, videos, online courses, and participant resources
•
Delivery of remote or in-person training for national customers
•
All of the above may occur in English or Spanish, depending on customer needs
In addition to these specific areas of focus in coaching, the instructional coach will also:

Build knowledge about other Amplify early literacy programs (CKLA, Boost/Boost Lectura) in order to support a cohesive educator experience across products
•
Proactively seek out feedback and adapt practice based upon what is leading to improved student outcomes
•
Create or customize professional development experiences, as needed
•
Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions (in person and remote), as needed, for leaders and teachers
