Prepares, packages, and labels medications pursuant to a pharmacist-reviewed order in accordance with Ohio Board of Pharmacy regulations and institutional policies. Assists in the preparation of medication dosage forms including oral, enteral, parenteral, ophthalmic, topical, rectal, and investigational medications. Prepares sterile intravenous admixtures utilizing aseptic technique under pharmacist supervision, including small- and large-volume parenteral, portable infusion device cassettes, and chemotherapy agents (as permitted by role and competency). Distributes medications, supplies, and equipment in compliance with state and federal regulations. Maintains accurate documentation related to medication preparation, dispensing support activities, and inventory control. Ensures medications are stored appropriately, monitored for expiration dating, and secured according to regulatory standards. Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medications, equipment, and supplies to prevent service delays. Inspects medication storage areas under pharmacist direction to ensure compliance with standards established by The Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory agencies. Maintains cleanliness and organization of medication preparation and storage areas. Communicates effectively with pharmacists, nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate medication distribution needs and resolve operational concerns. Participates in departmental initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and competency validation processes as assigned by supervisors and managers. Attends department-sponsored continuing education programs and maintains ongoing competency validation consistent with Certified Pharmacy Technician requirements.
