Essential Functions
1 Supervises assigned staff; plans, assigns, and evaluates work; provides training, coaching, and performance management in accordance with City policies.
2 Serves as an active member of the veterinary supervisory team, providing leadership coverage across forensic, treatment, and surgical support functions.
3 Monitors daily operations; identifies process gaps and implements improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance, and service delivery.
4 Oversees intake and processing of animals associated with enforcement actions, including seizures, cruelty investigations, and protective custody cases.
5 Ensures proper identification, documentation, and chain-of-custody procedures are maintained.
6 Coordinates Suspected Animal Cruelty (SAC) case management activities with Field Services, veterinary staff, and law enforcement partners; supports large-scale or complex intake operations.
7 Maintains tracking systems for legal holds, case status, and outcomes while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
8 Communicates Suspected Animal Cruelty (SAC) case status, operational priorities, and updates to internal and external stakeholders.
9 Assists the veterinarian with the preparation of reports and documentation for legal proceedings.
10 Monitor intake progress of all cases including Suspected Animal Cruelty (SAC) to ensure required due – out dates, and animals are transitioned to appropriate care or outcome.
11 Assists veterinarians with diagnostic and treatment procedures, including examinations, imaging, laboratory sample preparation, and necropsy support as applicable.
12 Performs medical triage and completes ordered diagnostics in the absence of a veterinarian, within scope of training.
13 Directing and reviewing the daily operations of a team, determining the priorities, and making course corrections as needed.
14 Performing euthanasia in humane situations, additionally for medial, space or behavioral needs as warranted.
15 Ensures compliance with City policies, departmental procedures, and safety regulations.
16 Maintains accurate records and documentation in applicable systems.
17 Participates in required training, meetings, and operational planning activities.
18 Performs other duties as assigned.
