Job Description
Position Title: Traffic Engineer / Engineering Manager Level I or Level II
Department: Operations
Division: 7
Report to: Division Engineer
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Duncan, OK
Traffic Engineer: Plans, organizes, and directs the District 7 Traffic Crew, ensuring that daily work is performed timely, effectively and in accordance with all applicable policies. Establishes sign replacement and pavement marking installation goals and monitors the crew’s performance.
Reviews, processes and recommends approval of driveway permits and requests for signals, turn lanes, and additional signage. Conducts field reviews of these requests, determines need for Traffic Impact Analysis and/or any other case specific information, communicates back to the applicant promptly. Discusses all traffic issues with the Traffic Engineering Division.
Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibility for overall management of a staff of engineers, technicians and other personnel who are responsible for providing engineering expertise, guidance and technical assistance to state agencies, consultants, and the public. They are differentiated from lower levels in the Professional Engineer job family in that their focus is on broader supervisory and management issues including planning, organizing, and integrating the functions that report to them.
