Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required and at least one year of mechanic/vehicle maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 2-year college degree automotive technology preferred.
· Minimum three years prior supervisory experience required.
· Valid NYS drivers’ license free from major infractions required.
· Basic math skills required to maintain inventory and or purchase supplies.
· Must have at the time of hire, and maintain throughout employment, a valid NYS drivers’ license free of major infractions.
· Ability to work Saturdays and overtime on a regular basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Computer proficiency including basic data entry and writing routine reports and correspondence.
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage technical employees with varying skill levels.
· Ability to use appropriate power and hand-held tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, replace, and test equipment.
· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of operating and maintenance instructions including reading and interpreting safety regulations.
Knowledge of electrical systems.
· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
· Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare routine paperwork.
· Ability to understand directions and follow standard operating procedures.
· Detailed working knowledge of automotive safety standards and related regulations.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk, talk, hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions.
· Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
· Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.
Computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, cash register, and various hand and power tools. Must be able to wear safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, face shield, and respirator.
Computer Software: Microsoft Outlook and Word.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed in a shop environment. The worker is exposed to temperature changes (inside and outside), noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils, vibration, hazardous materials, potential for physical injury, and proximity to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
