A Day in the Life
The Surgical Operating Unit Program Management Office (PMO) Process Excellence team is responsible for enabling effective project planning, execution, and portfolio management through standardized processes, systems, and tools. This team partners with program leaders, project teams, and functional stakeholders to drive consistency, visibility, and operational excellence across product development and business initiatives.
The Senior PD Project Management Specialist supports the administration, optimization, and deployment of project management tools and systems while advancing project management best practices throughout the organization. This role combines project leadership, systems administration, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement to support successful project execution within a highly regulated medical device environment.
This is an onsite position that may be located in North Haven, Connecticut; Lafayette, Colorado; or Mounds View, Minnesota.
The Senior PD Project Management Specialist partners with project and functional teams to support project management systems, lead tool-related initiatives, and drive adoption of project management processes. This role serves as a key resource for planning, monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement activities that enable effective project execution and portfolio visibility across the Surgical Operating Unit.
Primary Responsibilities
•
Lead the configuration, administration, maintenance, and deployment of project management tools and systems, including ResourceFirst, Prochain Fusion, Microsoft Project, and related platforms.
•
Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate business needs, define requirements, and implement improvements to project management systems and processes.
•
Facilitate project planning, execution, tracking, and reporting activities to support project teams and program leadership.
•
Develop and maintain project schedules, dashboards, metrics, and status reports to provide visibility into project performance and resource utilization.
•
Identify project risks, issues, and process gaps, and implement solutions to support schedule, quality, and productivity objectives.
•
Serve as a liaison between project teams, functional stakeholders, and leadership to support alignment, communication, and decision-making.
•
Lead or support initiatives focused on improving project management methodologies, tools, governance, and operational effectiveness.
•
Drive stakeholder engagement, user adoption, and training activities associated with project management systems and process enhancements.
Required Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with 2+ years of professional experience.
•
Experience supporting project planning, execution, tracking, and reporting activities within a business, technical, engineering, or product development environment.
•
Experience working with project management systems, tools, or software platforms.
•
Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to implement projects, processes, or business system improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
•
2+ years of project management experience leading or coordinating complex projects.
•
5+ years of experience in medical device product development or another highly regulated industry.
•
Experience administering project management tools and systems such as ResourceFirst, Prochain Fusion, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
•
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
•
Demonstrated success driving project management process improvements, stakeholder alignment, and project delivery in a matrixed organization.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
