The Gary Mellinger Agency is looking for a motivated, sales-driven Agent in Training to join our team in Thousand Oaks. This position offers the opportunity to build your insurance expertise, grow your income through performance, and develop skills that can open the door to long-term advancement within Farmers Insurance.
Requirements
You do not need previous insurance experience to apply. However, previous sales experience or a demonstrated history of achieving performance goals is required.
What You’ll Be Doing
This is a hands-on sales role where you’ll work directly with individuals, families, and businesses to understand their needs and help them make informed decisions about their insurance coverage.
You’ll be responsible for:
•
Connecting with prospective clients through leads, referrals, networking, and outbound outreach
•
Asking questions to understand each client’s situation, priorities, and coverage needs
•
Preparing quotes and recommending insurance solutions based on those needs
•
Selling Auto, Home, Life, Commercial, and additional insurance products
•
Identifying cross-selling opportunities with new and existing clients
•
Following up consistently with prospects throughout the sales process
•
Building long-term client relationships through regular communication and policy reviews
•
Managing leads, follow-ups, and sales activity using CRM tools
•
Working toward individual production goals while contributing to overall agency growth
What We’re Looking For
We’re interested in people who know how to sell but are also willing to keep learning.
Successful candidates will bring:

Previous sales experience or a demonstrated track record of meeting performance goals
•
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
•
Confidence starting conversations and speaking with prospective clients
•
Experience handling objections and asking for the sale
•
Motivation to work toward measurable goals
•
Resilience when faced with rejection
•
A coachable attitude and willingness to improve
•
Strong organization and consistent follow-through
•
Property & Casualty and/or Life & Health license preferred, or willingness to obtain
•
Bilingual abilities are a plus
