Responsible for establishing baseline criteria to plan and schedule workload relative to various engineering projects.
Prepares project planning and scheduling status reports and recommends remedial actions. Carries out necessary
preplanning to examine scope of work and services, work breakdown structure, engineering quality and quantities,
financial and contractual obligations and division of responsibility to control and report on planning and scheduling
activities. Works with third parties to ensure plans are realistic and achievable; analyzes third party contractor
progress information. Prepares schedules for commissioning and start up. Assist the project control team in
establishing a project performance index. A Specialist Professional (P4) is a recognized subject matter expert in job
area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities typically include: Managing
large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower
level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex
Instructions and guidelines
Ensures projects follow sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal
standard procedures. Ensures that an integrated schedule for the project’s entire scope of work is provided.
2. Planning and scheduling
Analyzes project requirements with project team, checks that all essential work activities have been identified in sufficient detail to serve as a basis for developing realistic project schedules. Defines,
jointly with the project team, project work aligned to the cost breakdown structure, develops, and maintains properly linked, required role loaded/integrated, baseline and current schedules that pro-vide time phased baseline, actual and forecast data for project. Monitors project progress and regularly analyzes project critical paths to ensure all critical path activities and project milestones are progressed to the plan, notifies
Project Managers of any deviations or scheduling issues, and provides
input for optimizing resources. When required prepares EOT Schedules and Schedule Analysis to support Project Team. Works together with Line Management Organization to resolve Resource Demand / Staffing
Conflicts. Issues progress reports, schedule updates and productivity data on a regular basis and as requested by customers and stakeholders.
3. Cost, revenue and cash flow management
Supports the establishment of a baseline plan for cost and cash flow performance measurement.
Works with project team to define the necessary resources for project completion, evaluating the work breakdown structure and standard productivity. Where required – create As Sold reference
point in Project Control tool suite and generate Original Budget baseline. Reflect Variation Orders in the revised baseline.
4. Change management
Works closely with engineering, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, client and contractors to identify
potential changes in scope and quantifies the impact of each change in a timely fashion. Revise baseline in line with
the approved Variation Orders and Extension of Time request
