Pay Range:
$54.90 - $82.35
Join Advocate Health’s growing Neurosurgery team at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. This unique role offers the chance to support both the general neurosurgery and neurovascular care teams. Collaborate with top neurosurgeons and neurointerventional specialists to advance growing programs.
What You’ll Do
•
Respond to inpatient consults for the general and neurovascular services and respond to hyperacute strokes.
•
Perform daily rounds, progress notes, and patient assessments.
•
Prepare patients for neurosurgical and neurointerventional procedures (pre- and post-op).
•
Manage ER and hospital consults; one clinic day per week.
•
Collaborate with multidisciplinary general and neurovascular teams.

Major Responsibilities
•
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute, critical, and chronic neurological conditions in an inpatient setting.
•
Obtain histories, perform physical exams, and develop differential diagnoses.
•
Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments as appropriate.
•
Interpret diagnostic studies and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans.
•
Provide patient education on disease management, preventive health, and recovery.
•
Coordinate care across multiple services, including pre-op planning and discharge.
•
Document care plans and maintain records per established standards.
•
Offer clinical guidance to nursing staff and ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
Qualifications: PA-C or NP (ANCC/AANP), DEA, BLS (may obtain within 6 months). For Nurse Practitioner candidates, both Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) certification and Registered Nurse First Assist (RNFA) certification are required.
Nice to have
Experience: Neuro experience preferred.
Physical & Working Conditions
•
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the day.
•
Exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards; PPE required.
•
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with patient transfers.
