Job Description
Purpose of the role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Accountabilities
•
Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
•
Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
•
Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
•
Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
•
Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
•
Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

As a Java Tech Lead-VP, you will play a pivotal role in driving reliable, scalable, and secure technology solutions aligned with business priorities. This role requires owning the end‑to‑end technology delivery for FISH, translating functional and business needs into robust system designs, and ensuring disciplined execution with quality, and operational stability. Success depends on building and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams, establishing clear engineering standards, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. The VP Tech Lead is expected to proactively manage technical risk, modernize platforms, improve resiliency and performance, and ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory requirements. Equally important is the ability to partner effectively with product, business, and operations leaders, communicate complex technical concepts with clarity, and make data‑driven decisions that balance speed, cost, and long‑term sustainability. A successful VP Tech Lead consistently acts as a technology steward, role‑models strong engineering leadership behaviors, and drives measurable improvements in system reliability, delivery predictability, and business outcomes.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience with:
•
Managing complex technology programs with strong delivery discipline, risk management, and dependency handling.
•
Establishing engineering best practices for code quality, performance, security, reliability, and observability.
•
Platform modernization, legacy transformation, and technical debt reduction at enterprise scale.
•
DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and operational excellence practices to improve time‑to‑market.
•
Modern technology stacks, including microservices, APIs, and event‑driven architectures.
•
Proven experience in Java (8+) with strong hands-on expertise including multithreading, advanced collections, concurrency, and performance-oriented programming.
•
Spring Framework & Spring Boot - building robust backend services, REST APIs, and integration components.
•
Hibernate/JPA - ORM, query tuning, caching, and high-volume data access patterns.
•
SQL & PL/SQL proficiency - ability to develop stored procedures, packages, triggers, complex queries, and performance optimization.
•
Message based integration using MQ - including producers/consumers, DLQ handling, and reliable message delivery patterns.
•
Docker/containerization exposure - especially useful to scale and Spring Boot container builds.
•
Event streaming technologies - (Kafka or similar) real time data processing.
•
CI/CD tooling - Jenkins & Maven for building pipelines, release automation, and DevOps alignment.
•
Unix/Linux expertise -including shell scripting, environment debugging, file handling, permissions.
•
Unit testing & build/release engineering - ensuring quality, automation, and regression safe change deployment.
•
Hands on design & build of distributed systems - scalability improvements, optimization of existing services, and performance tuning.
