Job Description:
AHMG Rothman Orthopedics at Orange City
1061 Medical Center Dr., Suite 304, Orange City, FL
Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm
may travel to cover other Rothman practices as needed
Responsibilities
•
Obtains pre-certification for prescription drugs.
•
Makes pre-operative calls to discusses discharge plans, obtains patient information, and answers questions.
•
Makes post-operative calls within two weeks of surgery, using clinical judgment to direct care based on shared information.
•
Previews charts pre-operatively, documenting pertinent information including surgical clearances.
•
Collates, distributes, and discusses post-op discharge instructions with patients and referring physicians.
•
Discusses patient care and necessary home equipment with homecare nurses and arranges medical supplies.
•
Assists medical assistants in maintaining patient flow and reviews physician schedules.
•
Performs patient intake and conducts physical examinations.
•
E-Prescribes, writes (with physician’s signature), faxes, and/or phones in prescriptions per practice protocols.
•
Examines post-operative patients and performs wound checks for infections.
•
Assists physician at collegiate and professional sporting events and providing field coverage.
•
Other duties as assigned.
•
Assists during hospital rounds and liaises between physician and outside consulting physicians.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•
Medical Office procedures and medical terminology [Required]
•
Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office [Required]
Education:
•
Bachelor’s [Required]
•
Master’s [Preferred]
Field of Study:
•
from an accredited professional athletic training education program and BOC (Board of Certification) passing exam score
Work Experience:
•
2+ in orthopedics [Required]
Licenses and Certifications:
•
Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) [Required]
•
Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
