About this opportunity:
The Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (CASD) strives to be a comprehensive training and research hub dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). CASD provides Ball State University students with hands-on training in autism diagnostic evaluation, evidence-based intervention strategies, and collaborative consultation practices.
The CASD offers a wide range of services and resources, including diagnostic evaluation, family-centered support, and professional development opportunities. The core component of the CASD is to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research that informs best practices in assessment, intervention, and service delivery for individuals with ASD across the lifespan.
The mission of the CASD is threefold: (a) to provide training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to learn and implement autism diagnostic evaluation and intervention services; (b) to provide services and resources in partnership with the community, including intervention, consultation, and individual and group student-centered support and services; and © to conduct innovative research to inform practice.
The CASD Director is a licensed psychologist with a PsyD or PhD in psychology or related field who has the endorsement as an HSPP and will provide leadership and oversight for the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder, supervise students in clinical training activities, teach one course within the area of clinical expertise for the Department of Special Education, and conduct psychological evaluations for autism referrals.
This is a 12-month position that can provide continuity of services throughout the calendar year.

What you’ll do and what you’ll bring:
Position Function:
Provide leadership and oversight for the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorder, supervise students in clinical training activities, teach one course within the area of clinical expertise for the Department of Special Education, and conduct psychological evaluations for autism referrals.
Duties / Responsibilities:
1. Program Administration
•
Assist with oversight and coordination of clinic operations, programming, and service delivery.
•
Contribute to outreach, community partnerships, and campus initiatives that enhance awareness and access to services.
•
Support student training, supervision coordination, and program development initiatives for students in the department of special education, department of educational psychology, and/or closely related fields.
•
Maintain compliance with university, ethical, and licensure standards, including documentation, confidentiality, and billing procedures.
•
Represent the CASD, Teachers College, the ICCs, and Ball State University in professional and community settings.
2. Clinical Services & Assessment
•
Conduct psychological assessments for community clients and university students, including clinical interviews, behavioral observations, and standardized testing.
•
Administer, score, interpret, and communicate results of cognitive, personality, and neurodevelopmental assessments related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other mental health concerns.
•
Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy for students with ASD and co-occurring mental health conditions.
•
Develop individualized support plans and provide psychoeducation, consultation, and family support as appropriate.
3. Interprofessional Community Clinic Collaboration
•
Serve as the CASD representative within the Interprofessional Community Clinics.
•
Collaborate with ICC directors and leadership to support interdisciplinary service delivery and coordinated care models.
•
Develop referral pathways and collaborative programming across clinic units.
•
Participate in ICC planning, assessment, strategic initiatives, and quality improvement efforts.
•
Support interprofessional education and training opportunities for students across disciplines.
4. Teaching and Supervision
•
Supervise graduate assistants and practicum students.
•
Teach one class per semester in the Department of Special Education.
5. Student Support
•
Support autistic students in navigating academic, social, and daily challenges within the university setting.
•
Collaborate with disability services, student success programs, faculty, and community providers to coordinate care and promote inclusion for neurodiverse students.
•
Provide consultation and training to faculty and staff regarding best practices for supporting students with ASD.
Minimum Qualifications:
•
Ph.D. in clinical or school psychology from an accredited university.
•
Licensed Psychologist in the State of Indiana as a Health Service Provider in Psychology (HSPP), or eligibility for Indiana licensure at the time of appointment.
•
Expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorder.
•
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
•
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
•
Three years post-licensure experience.
•
Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship in autism spectrum disorders.
•
Experience working with autistic adults.
•
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students.
•
Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification.
•
Experience with interdisciplinary or integrated healthcare service delivery models.
•
Experience with clinic administration, budgeting, strategic planning, quality improvement, and program development.
•
Experience pursuing or managing grants, contracts, or external partnerships.
