About the role
As a Cafe Chef, you will play a key role in creating exceptional dining experiences for residents, visitors and guests. Combining your culinary skills, passion for customer service and commitment to quality, you will help deliver fresh, nutritious and enjoyable meals while creating a welcoming café environment within our Seniors Community.

Your Opportunity
This is a casual opportunity based at Castle Hill Village, working Monday to Friday, to support planned leave coverage and increased demand during the Christmas period.
As a Cafe Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the café, preparing high-quality meals, supporting café functions and ensuring exceptional service delivery. Working closely with the Food and Beverage Manager, you will help create menus, maintain food quality standards and deliver a positive dining experience for customers and residents.
With professionalism, creativity and a customer-focused approach, you will:
Food Preparation and Service Delivery
•
Prepare, cook and present high-quality meals, café items and catering orders
•
Ensure food is prepared and served to a consistently high standard
•
Support the planning and delivery of café services and functions
Kitchen Operations and Quality
•
Support menu planning and seasonal menu updates
•
Monitor food quality, storage, preparation and handling procedures
•
Ensure stock levels are maintained and participate in stocktakes
•
Maintain efficient kitchen operations and workflow processes
Customer Experience
•
Deliver excellent customer service to residents, visitors and guests
•
Assist in promoting café services and supporting customer satisfaction initiatives
Collaboration and Team Support
•
Lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture
•
Work collaboratively with kitchen, hospitality and village teams
Safety and Compliance
•
Maintain food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards in line with HACCP requirements
•
Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures and report hazards
•
Ensure equipment, workstations and food preparation areas are maintained safely and professionally
What You’ll Bring
You are a passionate and customer-focused Chef who enjoys creating quality food and delivering memorable dining experiences.
What’s Required
•
Commercial Cookery Certificate or equivalent qualification
•
2-3 years’ experience within hospitality, catering or food service environments
•
2-3 years’ of experience in food preparation, kitchen operations and menu planning skills
•
Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification.
•
Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP requirements
•
Strong English literacy both spoken and written
What’s Preferred
•
RSA, willingness to obtain
•
Experience working within aged care, retirement living, healthcare or community settings
•
Experience with ordering, stock control and food cost management
•
Microsoft Office skills and general computer literacy
•
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
