1 Performs electrical work in the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment, lighting, and power circuits for the City and its departments and facilities; develops and implements plans and specifications for maintenance and electrical renovation projects.
2 Troubleshoots electrical and electronic apparatus, motors, controls, and equipment by using schematics to
ensure electrical power compatibility and safety of components.
3 Installs, repairs, and maintains various electrical equipment such as control circuits, lighting circuits, motors,
switch gear for new, temporary and existing construction and ensures equipment conforms to electrical and
safety codes.
4 Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for
adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with electrical codes; tests circuits and electric components to locate broken connections or defective current-control mechanisms.
5 Documents maintenance and repair activities to provide accurate records of work performed; trains apprentice electricians or small crew of helpers in electrical systems installation and repair procedures to ensure work is accomplished according to specifications; assists with timecards and other personnel management practices.
6 Performs preventive maintenance work on electrical equipment and fixtures to detect electrical hazards; connects, pulls, and lays wires according to diagrams to install and repair fixtures.
7 Reads blueprints or electrical diagrams to determine locations of equipment and conformance to building and
safety codes.
8 Performs any and all other trades work as needed or assigned.
