About the role
FH Canada is currently accepting applications for a Parliamentary Research Internship within our Public Affairs group. This unique and exciting career opportunity is for a “Political Enthusiast” who demonstrates a proven understanding of the Canadian government and all its branches. Reporting to the Vice-President, Public Affairs, the chosen candidate will provide a wide range of communications support, with a strong focus on research, parliamentary monitoring, writing & reporting, and stakeholder relations.
Contingent on location, this role will be hybrid or remote. Our Toronto office is a hybrid work environment with 3 days weekly in office. Our team in Ottawa works fully remotely from home. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada and must be available to work a full-time schedule, Monday – Friday for a 6 – month contract duration. This paid contract role offers $850.00 weekly, along with paid time off. The anticipated start date is October 2026.
What your day to day will involve
•
Monitor parliamentary activity and legislative developments relevant to FHR clients
•
Research government positions and policy developments and scan for emerging issues
•
Synthesize research into concise, actionable briefing notes and reports
•
Develop written materials for government outreach, stakeholder engagement, and media
•
Other duties as required
Skills and Qualifications Required
•
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in political science, communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent experience
•
Superior written, oral and interpersonal skills with an acute attention to detail, and a well-defined work ethic
•
Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian government structure, current policy issues, and political dynamics
•
Exhibits a strong problem-solving ability, critical thinking skills and an excellent capacity to break down and communicate complex subjects effectively
•
Brings strong PC skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TEAMS)
•
Familiarity with parliamentary tools and databases, including Hansard, Legis Info or other platforms.
•
Have excellent multi-tasking skills, exceptional time management skill and a strong understanding of social media platforms
•
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and detail, including adherence to company and client standards
•
Bilingualism is an asset

$850/week
Omnicom’s policy requires employees to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
