About the role
As our Billing & Accounts Receivable Analyst, youâll own customer billing, accounts receivable and collections for our subscription business. Youâll investigate invoice and payment discrepancies, resolve them directly with customers, reconcile billing and payment records against the ledger, and fix the processes that keep causing them. Youâll join a lean, three-person, AI-empowered Finance team, working directly with our Head of Finance and Senior Financial Controller, with lasting and broad ownership from day one.
Billing, AR, collections and reconciliation are core, permanent responsibilities. What grows is the build side. As you learn our systems and reporting definitions youâll take ownership of MRR/ARR reporting, and weâll expect you to automate the manual workflows behind it rather than maintain them. If youâd rather fix the process than work the queue, thatâs the part of this job that gets bigger.
Responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

Upholding TestGorillaâs behaviors and fostering an inclusive, supportive culture.

Owning customer billing end to end, including invoicing, subscription changes, payment queries, refunds, failed payment recovery, credit notes and corrections within agreed approval limits, and working with Customer Success on complex or sensitive billing cases.

Owning accounts receivable, collections and dunning (via Upflow), resolving failed payments and billing disputes directly with customers.
â˘
Getting to the root cause of recurring billing issues and fixing the underlying process, rather than just resolving individual cases as they come up.
â˘
Owning reconciliations across billing, payments, subscription reporting and the ledger, explaining timing and definition differences, and producing MRR/ARR movement reporting and analysis that helps Finance understand what has changed and why.

Improving and introducing Finance automations around AR, billing and reporting, and moving routine work towards exception-based processing.
â˘
Supporting billing platform, pricing and packaging changes from a Finance perspective: defining requirements, testing outcomes and monitoring exceptions, and partnering with Product and Engineering when a technical change is needed.

Has personally owned customer billing and AR or collections, including investigating exceptions and following issues through to resolution.

Has personally resolved complex customer billing or payment issues directly with customers.
â˘
Has run customer billing in a subscription or other recurring-revenue business, and is hands-on with a subscription billing platform such as Chargebee, Zuora, Recurly, Stripe Billing, Maxio, Paddle or similar.

Is skilled at reconciliation, and able to independently work through why two financial or customer datasets donât agree.
â˘
Has strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
â˘
Is comfortable using AI and automation to reduce manual work, and can point to a recurring Finance process they personally improved or automated.
Most people in this role will have at least four years of relevant experience. We havenât set an upper limit, because we care far more about what youâve owned and how youâve progressed than the number of years.

Experience building or maintaining automations using tools like Claude, n8n, Zapier, Make or Python.

Multi-currency billing, pricing/packaging changes, or ERP migrations.

A professional accounting qualification.
