The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence.

DHHS has established a new Division of Child and Family Well-Being that focuses on supporting whole child and family health and well-being for North Carolinians. This division works to ensure that North Carolina’s children grow up safe, healthy and thriving in nurturing and resilient families and communities. It will bring together complementary programs from the Divisions of Public Health, Mental Health, and Social Services to maximize services and outcomes for children and their families, including nutrition programs (SNAP, WIC and Child and Adult Care Food Program), health and prevention services for children and youth, children’s behavioral health services, and early intervention programs. This position will transfer to the Division of Child and Family Well-being this calendar year.
