The work will be performed in the company’s place of work at 2400 Skymark Ave. Unit 3, Mississauga, Ontario L4W 5K5. This role will require frequent travel to clinical sites in the United States and Canada (50-70%).

The Clinical Specialist will support the clinical execution and customer education for Traferox’s ex vivo lung perfusion device across clinical sites. The position will provide in-person and virtual case support, real-time troubleshooting, and close coordination with transplant teams and Traferox’s internal clinical teams from case start through hand-off. Through structured onboarding, hands-on training, and ongoing educational content, the successful candidate will help build site readiness and maintain a high standard of device proficiency among surgeons, perfusionists, OR staff, and nursing teams. This role requires frequent travel to clinical sites in the United States and Canada (50-70%).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Case Support & Clinical Execution
•
Travel to clinical sites (US and Canada) to support EVLP cases
•
When in-person support is not needed, provide live case support virtually during EVLP procedures, including troubleshooting device or technique issues in real time
•
Stay in close contact with the accepting transplant team and Traferox’s clinical team throughout each case, and help confirm when a case is complete and ready to hand off.
•
Provide real-time case updates and escalate issues to the Traferox Clinical Programs and Training Lead, as appropriate.
•
Troubleshoot device or technique issues in real time during live procedures.
Training & Customer Education
•
Train surgeons, perfusionists, OR staff, and nursing teams on device operation, and cannulation
•
Lead onboarding for new sites, from assessing a program’s readiness before launch to evaluating staff competency afterward, plus periodic refresher training for existing users.
•
Build and deliver educational content - slide decks, demos, one-pagers, videos - to keep clinical teams current on product updates, and relevant developments in the field.
•
Help train Traferox’s own sales and commercial teams on the clinical side of the product.
Relationship Management & Internal Collaboration
•
Develop strong working relationships with transplant surgeons, perfusionists, OR staff, and organ procurement teams at every site you support.
•
Act as a clinical liaison between customer sites and Traferox’s internal R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams - routing field feedback, complaints, and technical issues appropriately.
•
Follow up on patient and program outcomes after cases, and respond quickly when customers reach out with questions or requests.
•

Qualifications
•
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, perfusion science, biology, kinesiology, or a related clinical/science field
•
Working knowledge of lung physiology and mechanics.
•
Competent in sterile technique and basic surgical skills, including suturing and tying
•
Able to explain technical procedures clearly to audiences with varying skill levels
•
Available to travel extensively (roughly 50-70% of the time), including on short notice, and to work a variable on-call schedule to support urgent transplant cases, including covering nights, weekends, and holidays in accordance with federal and provincial laws.
•
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage senior clinical staff.
•
Organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment.
•
Comfortable with Microsoft Office and standard business tools (e.g., expense-reporting platforms like Concur).
•
Able to pass all associated competency requirements before supporting cases independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
•
Background in transplantation, cardiothoracic surgery, or organ preservation; hands-on EVLP experience is a strong plus but not required.
•
Relevant experience as a perfusionist; OR/ nurse (cardiothoracic, scrub nurse or transplant background especially valued); PA or surgical first assist; RN; or clinical/field specialist from another device company (cardiac, vascular, or ECMO/perfusion-adjacent experience is especially relevant) - generally with 2+ years in a clinical or medical device environment.
•
Master’s or PhD degree in nursing, biology, kinesiology, or a related clinical/science field
•
Familiarity with organ procurement workflows, transplant logistics, or OPO operations; 2+ years in advanced organ procurement/transplant practice is a plus.
•
Prior experience in a field-based clinical training or medical device support role.
