Physical, Sensory, Mental, and Environmental Requirements
Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to stand, walk, and remain mobile throughout the workday in a fast-paced clinical environment. Frequent movement is required, including bending, twisting, turning, pivoting, reaching, squatting, kneeling, balancing, and occasional climbing as necessary. Requires frequent use of hands for handling, fingering, keying, typing, writing, grasping, pinching, and fine motor manipulation when operating imaging equipment, documenting patient information, and performing procedures. Must be able to position, assist, transfer, pull, push, and reposition patients, including operating wheelchairs, stretchers, and other patient transport equipment. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment, supplies, and patients in accordance with departmental safety guidelines and patient care needs.
Sensory Requirements:
Requires visual acuity sufficient to accurately review physician orders, patient records, imaging studies, equipment displays, and technical data. Ability to distinguish colors and identify subtle image details necessary for diagnostic imaging. Requires the ability to assess patients at close range and monitor equipment and patient conditions during examinations and procedures. Must be able to hear and communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in an environment with background noise. Requires the ability to monitor alarms, equipment indicators, and verbal instructions from patients, providers, and staff. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families, physicians, students, and members of the healthcare team. Ability to recognize sensory cues including temperature changes, sharp versus dull sensations, odors, and other environmental conditions encountered in a healthcare setting.
Mental Requirements:
Requires strong reasoning, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills to evaluate imaging requests, assess patient conditions, determine appropriate scanning techniques, and respond appropriately to changing clinical situations. Must be able to understand and follow detailed instructions, adhere to established procedures and assigned work schedules, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Requires the ability to work effectively under pressure while ensuring patient safety, image quality, regulatory compliance, and efficient workflow.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed primarily in a hospital and diagnostic imaging environment with frequent patient, physician, and public interaction. The role may involve working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Regular operation of CT scanners, imaging equipment, computers, and patient transport equipment is required. Potential exposure to infectious diseases, airborne pathogens, bloodborne pathogens, blood, bodily fluids, cleaning agents, chemicals, and other healthcare-related hazards may occur. Employees are required to follow all infection control, radiation safety, and workplace safety protocols, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, gowns, masks, eyewear, respirators, and other protective equipment as required.
