Job Description:
About the company
Department Overview
The FMCG Customer Strategy Department is a business division that operates multiple shops on Rakuten Ichiba, including “Rakuten 24,” a direct-to-consumer (D2C) service for daily consumer goods.
Rakuten 24 is a first-party model store operated by Rakuten itself within Rakuten Ichiba, offering a unique position where you can gain business experience while working within the organization.
Our department contributes to business success through UI/UX improvements, web page creation, data analysis, and marketing. Beyond typical processes like advertising sales, driving traffic to store pages through events, and delivering creative materials, we handle everything from product procurement to sales, page creation, shipping, logistics, and UX verification until products reach customers, enabling skill development through the entire business process.
From a data engineer perspective, you can gain the following experiences:
Comprehensive involvement from planning to implementation: Since upstream processes like planning are conducted within our business division, you can track whether the projects you participate in contribute to business success, understand the overall project picture, and make more effective proposals.
High impact: Rakuten24, which drives sales for “Rakuten Ichiba” - Japan’s leading e-commerce marketplace - handles a wide range of products including daily necessities, pharmaceuticals, and food items, operating as a business with significant influence as social infrastructure. The ability to tangibly experience the concrete business results of projects you’ve worked on is a major attraction.
Integration of technology and business: By leveraging technical skills while approaching projects with a business perspective, you can develop not only as an engineer but also enhance your skills as a business professional.

Additionally, Rakuten Group is actively engaged in business process improvements and productivity enhancements using generative AI, and this position offers opportunities to gain experience with various AI technologies.
Furthermore, we provide opportunities to actively promote various initiatives from an engineering perspective, including DX improvements and operational enhancements, not only within our business division but also across the entire Rakuten Group and to external audiences.
Would you like to join us in realizing our VISION of creating new value for Rakuten’s e-commerce site from a user-centered perspective, leveraging data and technology? We invite you to bring your expertise and passion to this role.

UI/UX improvements directly translate to business results, allowing you to feel the magnitude of this impact. This role’s appeal lies in offering a comprehensive, bird’s-eye view of the entire business and acquiring diverse experience.
2.
Ownership from Planning to Implementation and Impact Verification
You can actively participate from the planning stage and pursue contributions to the overall business. Since everything from planning to implementation and verification is conducted consistently within the business division, you can track how much your work contributes to the business. With a deeply rooted culture of data-driven decision-making and A/B testing, proposals are validated and results are visualized. In this open environment, you can turn ideas into reality.
3.
Become a High-Market-Value Engineer Who Integrates Technology and Business
