Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking an exceptional individual for the role of Cohen Endowed Chair in Neurodegeneration Research, at the Associate or Full Professor level. This tenure track, leadership position, reporting to Dr. Benjamin Segal, MD, Chair of Neurology and Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute, offers an exciting opportunity to spearhead groundbreaking research initiatives in neurodegenerative disorders. Visa and immigration sponsorship may be available for qualified candidates.
The successful candidate will have the resources to establish a cutting-edge research portfolio focused on various facets of neurogeneration. Potential areas of exploration include neurogenetics, electrophysiology, biomarkers, preclinical, in vitro and/ or in silico models of neurodegenerative disease, neuropathology, neuropsychology, clinical trials, and Health Services Research/Epidemiology.

The Department of Neurology at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) consists of 15 specialized divisions, 63 physicians, 5 psychologists, 14 dedicated research faculty, 24 residents, and 14 fellows. We deliver unparalleled subspecialty care across all neurology disciplines, with services spanning 8 state-of-the-art ambulatory facilities and 3 hospitals. The department operates over 30 groundbreaking multidisciplinary and personalized clinics, 3 comprehensive inpatient consultation services, an 30-bed neurocritical care unit, a 30-bed stroke ward, and an expanding teleneurology service partnering with 7 regional hospitals. Our telestroke network is among the largest in the nation, encompassing 32 affiliated hospitals. With over $15.5 million in annual research funding, OSU Neurology is at the forefront of discovering new biomarkers and therapeutic targets for neurological disorders. Our fundamental research portfolio focuses on neurogenetics, neuroimmunology and neuroregenerative medicine. Our pioneering Division of Neurology Health Services Research and Center for the Neurobiology of Aging and Resilience are trailblazers in the field. This year alone, our faculty conducted over 320 clinical trials and studies, supported by a cutting-edge biorepository and brain bank. We’re equally committed to education, offering 10 prestigious clinical fellowships and international training opportunities through the OSU Global Neurology Initiaitve, with partner programs in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin AMerica.
