About the Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer who thrives in one of the hardest environments in business: legacy supply chains, enterprise customers, startup speed, and chaotic real-world operations. At Vorto, engineers are builder-owners who turn messy, ambiguous problems into automated, scalable systems that transform how freight moves across America.
You’ll work across the stack to design, build, and operate mission-critical services — embedding AI agents, stabilizing and scaling high-volume systems, and automating workflows that eliminate manual work. Successful engineers here move with 10× speed, recover quickly, understand fundamentals deeply, and own outcomes end-to-end. What You Will Do:
•
Design, build, and operate services used daily by shippers, carriers, and drivers
•
Automate developer-dependent tasks (e.g., tool creation and debugging) to accelerate internal and customer automation efforts
•
Embed AI/LLMs (Vertex AI, open‑source models, agentic tools) to automate decision‑making and super‑charge developer productivity
•
Stabilize backend services
•
Own Problems end to end
