Power the future of Space at Star Catcher
Star Catcher is building the first energy grid in space to power the orbital economy.
Today’s spacecraft must generate all of their own power, which caps what they can do and how long they can operate. But what if they could “plug” into a grid, the way buildings do on Earth? Instead of cables and outlets, Star Catcher is building the technology to wirelessly beam energy to spacecraft’s existing solar panels when and where they need it.
Be an early member of a team building an entirely new energy infrastructure at scale to power the next frontier.
About the role
Star Catcher Industries, Inc., located in Jacksonville, Florida, has an opportunity for a Senior Quality Engineer to support the development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network, its orbital power grid.
Key Responsibilities
•
Implement and uphold QMS processes following the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle across all flight projects and R&D efforts.
•
Ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and customer requirements.
•
Participate in internal and external quality audits to evaluate QMS performance and drive continuous improvement.
•
Develop, implement, and maintain processes to control standard operations, quality, and safety.
•
Document, evaluate, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for issues identified internally, at suppliers, or by customers.
•
Facilitate immediate containment actions, stop-work orders, and disposition plans (Rework, Repair, Scrap, Use As-Is).
•
Lead structured Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations using 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Fault Tree Analysis.
•
Establish, track, and verify Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans to eliminate recurring non-conformances.
•
Review Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and participate in Engineering Review Boards (ERB) to evaluate potential impact on quality and flight safety.
•
Support Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate hardware and process risks.
•
Maintain configuration management discipline to ensure complete product identity and requirement traceability.
•
Oversee calibration control systems for measurement and test equipment used on flight builds.
•
Support supplier quality evaluations, incoming component inspections, and counterfeit parts prevention controls.
•
Ensure operational team awareness of quality policies, relevant quality objectives, and safety standards.
