As a Community Support Specialist, you’ll serve as a mentor, advocate, coach, and trusted support person for adults in recovery. You’ll work closely with individuals to help them navigate daily challenges, build healthy coping skills, access community resources, and maintain progress toward treatment and recovery goals. Key Responsibilities:
•
Deliver recovery-focused support services that help individuals achieve treatment goals and improve daily functioning
•
Build trusting relationships that encourage engagement, resilience, self-advocacy, and long-term success
•
Support individuals in developing healthy coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and independent living skills
•
Utilize behavioral interventions and evidence-based approaches, including motivational interviewing and recovery-oriented practices
•
Assist clients in accessing community resources, healthcare services, employment supports, educational opportunities, and other needed services
•
Collaborate with treatment teams to identify client needs, develop service plans, and support coordinated care
•
Respond appropriately to crisis situations while providing support and intervention within the scope of training
•
Conduct outreach, engagement, and follow-up activities to promote continuity of care and ongoing participation in services
•
Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of services, contacts, and client progress
•
Monitor progress toward treatment goals and communicate relevant observations and recommendations to treatment team members
•
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development opportunities, and quality improvement activities
•
Represent the organization professionally while fostering positive relationships with clients, families, referral sources, and community partners

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields of study:
Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Criminal Justice, Family Studies, Counseling, Recreational Therapy, Human Services, Human Development, Child Development, Gerontology, Behavioral Science, Rehabilitation Counseling

Associate of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support degree from an approved institution

•
Work experience in a related human services field may substitute for educational requirements. *Related fields may include direct support such as case management, residential support, developmentally disabled support, vocational rehabilitation, and more. Four years of qualifying experience minimum or a combination of education and experience equaling four years required.

Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP)
CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCJP, RADC-P, RADC, CCDP, CCDP-D
Additional Qualifications:
•
Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, acceptable driving record, and current auto insurance required
•
Strong verbal and written communication skills
•
Ability to establish positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
•
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
•
Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills
•
Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic behavioral health environment
•
Experience working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, or other life barriers preferred
•
Commitment to recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and person-centered care
•
Passion for helping individuals achieve greater independence, stability, and overall wellbeing
