About the role
This position is contingent upon contract award. It supports a new Defense Health Agency program, and the start date follows award and Government access.
Responsibilities
You’ll own the FHIR R4 design for a health data exchange platform that’s moving from SOAP services to FHIR one interface at a time, with the legacy exchanges running 24x7 the whole way. You’ll write and defend the profiles, implementation guides and terminology bindings the new services run on, work with the interface team that keeps the HL7 v2 feeds flowing, and represent the program’s standards decisions to the Government.
What you’ll do:
Design FHIR R4 services aligned to US Core, including CapabilityStatements, profiles and implementation guides
Own SMART Backend Services authorization patterns and the FHIR conformance test plan (Inferno)
Map legacy HL7 v2 and SOAP payloads to FHIR using the HL7 V2-to-FHIR implementation guide
Run HAPI FHIR in production with the platform team: performance, versioning, data quality
Present standards decisions in program increment planning and Government technical reviews
Requirements
Must have:
7 or more years in healthcare interoperability, with 3 or more on FHIR R4 in production
Hands-on US Core profiling, CapabilityStatements and implementation guide authoring
SMART on FHIR and SMART Backend Services experience
HAPI FHIR or an equivalent FHIR server in production
U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain the investigation the Government designates for this role
