As a private, non-profit liberal arts college of approximately 1,000 undergraduate and 500 graduate students, Goucher is dedicated to teaching students to become complex problem-solvers prepared for the jobs of the future. Small class sizes, a rigorous curriculum, and dedicated faculty and staff allow for personalized mentorship of each student. Named one of the most innovative colleges in the country by U.S. News & World Report, Goucher is a leader in global education and was one of the first, and remains one of the only, colleges in the U.S. to provide 100% of its students with the opportunity to study abroad with no additional tuition surcharges.
The Department of Psychology at Goucher College invite applications for a tenure-track position in neuroscience at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin Fall 2027. We invite applicants who share Goucher’s commitment to fostering a vibrant undergraduate learning environment for all students. The position will support the new undergraduate Neuroscience major, which is housed jointly in the Departments of Psychology and Biological Sciences.

The ideal candidate will show a commitment to undergraduate education and demonstrate evidence of scholarship potential at a small liberal arts college. This research program should be viable without a dedicated wet lab or vertebrate facility. The candidate will be expected to teach 20 credits (the equivalent of five classes) per year, including Research Methods in Neuroscience, an intermediate-level course and an upper-level seminar in their area of expertise, a course that serves the Goucher Commons Curriculum, and rigorous mentoring of undergraduates on a research team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the Neuroscience program by advising Neuroscience majors and helping to grow the program.
