The Role
As a Training Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality training, onboarding and operational coaching across our depots. You’ll help new starters settle into their roles, support existing colleagues in developing their skills and promote a positive safety culture throughout our business.
Working closely with depot teams and Business Managers, you’ll ensure colleagues have the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to carry out their roles safely, efficiently and in line with Biffa’s policies and relevant legislation.
Responsibilities
What will you be doing?
•
Delivering onboarding and induction: Ensuring new starters receive a comprehensive introduction to Biffa, our values, safety standards and operational procedures.
•
Developing driver skills: Coaching and mentoring drivers to improve their driving standards, road safety awareness and overall performance.
•
Providing practical training: Delivering depot-based training across a range of vehicles and operational activities, including vehicle defect checks, wheel torquing, manual handling, in-cab PDAs, tachographs, logbooks and driver debriefs.
•
Promoting a strong safety culture: Carrying out vehicle gate checks, crew monitoring and toolbox talks to identify risks, reinforce safe working practices and encourage positive behaviours.
•
Supporting operational compliance: Helping depots meet vehicle gate check, crew monitoring and route risk assessment targets, while ensuring colleagues understand the importance of complying with Operator Licence requirements.
•
Monitoring performance: Assessing colleagues’ skills and competencies, identifying areas for improvement and working with Business Managers to address training needs.
•
Maintaining accurate records: Ensuring training documentation and assessment records are completed, uploaded and maintained in line with company procedures.
•
Identifying and reporting risks: Highlighting potential hazards, unsafe working practices and opportunities to improve risk assessments and safe systems of work.
•
Supporting recruitment: Assisting with interviews and pre-driving assessments when required.
You’ll also work closely with depot teams to ensure our vehicles are maintained in a clean and tidy condition and that any significant issues or concerns are reported promptly.
