Role summary:
The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment. This position leads infrastructure and tooling initiatives to enhance engineering productivity and supports AI/ML integration for intelligent automation. The role requires strong technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure alignment with architectural standards and business objectives. The engineer applies data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement practices to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions that advance platform goals and operational excellence.
About the team:
The Customer Engagement Services Technology team develops advanced customer service solutions impacting millions worldwide. Comprising software engineers, data scientists, and machine learning experts, the team focuses on innovative Generative AI applications within complex enterprise environments. As part of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Systems, it collaborates closely with product, business, and UX partners to deliver measurable business value. The team emphasizes scalable, secure, and maintainable software design while fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence to support Walmart’s mission of helping customers save money and live better.
What you’ll do:
•
Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
•
Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
•
Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
•
Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
•
Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components to support automation and intelligent features.
•
Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through documentation and knowledge sharing.
•
Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $132,000.00 - $264,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
