About Tereina
Tereina is on a mission to revolutionize B2B payments. We’re a well-funded, early-stage startup, operating with the support of SAP, building cutting-edge solutions that will transform the way businesses move money. Our platform handles cross-border payment processing, counterparty management, bank account administration, and compliance workflows for enterprise customers worldwide.
Our DevOps team builds, supports, and develops the cloud environments that power Tereina — from build and CI/CD through development, staging, and production. Tereina runs Java and Spring Boot microservices on Google Kubernetes Engine, with our infrastructure defined as code in Terraform and delivered through automated build pipelines, all operating under the reliability, security, and compliance expectations of a regulated payments business.
About the Role
Reporting to our head of Technology Operations, the Infrastructure Engineer will join the DevOps team and help build our infrastructure environments. You will start by learning and maintaining our build, development, and production cloud environments, then take on expanding them as Tereina grows.
You will work closely with development teams to implement the infrastructure changes their code needs, improve and refactor our Terraform, and expand self-service infrastructure provisioning so engineers can move faster safely. This role is a great fit for an engineer with 2–5 years of experience who wants to grow quickly in a high-impact environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Support Development Teams: Partner with development teams to implement the infrastructure changes needed for new services, features, and code changes — from repository to load balancer.
· Infrastructure as Code: Develop and evolve our Terraform modules and patterns, streamlining and refactoring how infrastructure is implemented across environments.
· Self-Service Provisioning: Use cloud services and automation to expand self-service infrastructure provisioning, so engineers can get what they need quickly and consistently.
· Build & Deployment Pipelines: Maintain and automate our CI/CD pipelines, improving the speed, reliability, and security of how we build and ship software.
· Environment Operations: Maintain the health of our build, development, staging, and production environments, and help diagnose build and runtime issues across the stack.
· Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and harden our infrastructure, and document what you build so the team can scale with it.
Qualifications
· Experience: 2–5 years of experience in infrastructure, DevOps, platform, or site reliability engineering.
· Terraform: Hands-on experience automating GCP, AWS, or Azure environments with Terraform, across a broad range of common cloud services.
· CI/CD Automation: Experience automating build pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GCP Cloud Build, or similar.
· Systems & Networking: Strong working knowledge of Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and cloud and data center networking.
· AI Tooling Proficiency: Fluent use of modern AI assistants (e.g., Claude Code or similar) to diagnose Java/Gradle issues at build and runtime and to accelerate your work.
· Collaboration: Comfortable working directly with development teams to understand their needs and turn them into reliable infrastructure.
· Curiosity & Drive: An enthusiastic desire to dive into the infrastructure that powers a fintech payments company, learn quickly, and take on more ownership over time.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with GCP, including Cloud Build and Google Kubernetes Engine.
· Experience building and operationalizing Java, Go, Python, and/or Node services, from repository to load balancer.
· Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
· Experience working with global development and operations teams.
