Job Description Summary
Shape the next generation of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) testing and validation — leading a team whose work keeps the world’s power grids running safely and reliably.
As a Lead Project Engineer, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design, configuration, testing, and validation of complex HVDC Control & Protection (C&P) and automation systems. You’ll shape consistent design practices and robust verification and validation (V&V) strategies that drive flawless execution across live projects, new product introduction, and product care. This is a genuine opportunity to expand your technical and project leadership capabilities within an international organization delivering world-class HVDC solutions — your team’s work directly determines how reliably these systems perform in the field.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
•
Manage and lead a multidisciplinary team specializing in C&P systems, automation, HV/LV power systems, and V&V, ensuring solutions meet all contract, quality, and regulatory requirements.
•
Provide expert technical guidance across the project lifecycle—including Tendering, Lab Testing (RTDS/ATE), FAT/FST, Site Commissioning, and Service. Deputize for the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) when required.
•
Plan, monitor, and execute all V&V-related activities, ensuring rigorous defect tracking, traceability, test documentation, and compliance with grid codes and functional specification
•
Monitor and control engineering budgets, schedules, documentation, and risk management processes. Manage change control (CCB) and drive design reviews in line with company guidelines.
•
Act as the primary technical interface with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, NPI, and Product Care. Translate customer needs into robust, profitable technical solutions.
•
Drive improvement initiatives, standardization, and “cost-out” plans in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Apply a lean mindset to streamline review processes and eliminate redundant work.
•
Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of engineers. Support their career development, manage workload and shift planning effectively, and foster a healthy, sustainable working culture (preventing burnout and ensuring team retention).
•
Support the Project (Engineering) Manager as required and deputise for them as and when the need arises. Plan and progress all design engineering related activities.
Requirements
You’re someone who brings hands-on HVDC or grid-connected systems experience together with a genuine interest in developing people, and who’s energized by solving technical problems that have a real, measurable impact on power system reliability.
