Job Description
Summary
The Quality Coordinator is the central point of contact for coordinating and administering quality activities across maintenance, turnaround (TAR), capital projects, and procurement at the BP Whiting Refinery. This role supports execution of the site Quality Management System by ensuring quality requirements, inspection activities, documentation, and communications are planned, tracked, and closed out from material receipt through project completion. You will partner closely with Quality Assurance/Quality Control, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Maintenance, and contractors to promote Right-the-First-Time delivery while supporting safety, mechanical integrity, reliability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the focal point to coordinate quality activities across maintenance, TAR, capital projects, and procurement, ensuring alignment to the refinery’s Quality Management System (QMS).
• Coordinate inspection and field verification activities (e.g., in-process checks, receipt inspection, installation verification, final walkdowns) to confirm conformance with procedures, engineering specifications, and applicable industry standards.
• Facilitate quality planning and readiness activities, including identification of inspection hold/witness points, required records, and acceptance criteria for work packages and purchase orders.
• Track and manage quality documentation from material receipt through turnover/closeout, ensuring records are complete, accurate, controlled, and readily retrievable (e.g., inspection reports, certificates, test reports, redlines/as-builts, turnover dossiers).
• Support procurement quality processes by coordinating material documentation reviews, nonconformance resolution, and communication of quality requirements with suppliers and contractors.
• Coordinate nonconformance and corrective action workflows, including documentation of issues, timely routing to stakeholders, tracking to closure, and capture of lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
• Produce routine quality reporting and dashboards to provide visibility to quality performance, open items, aging, inspection status, and trends; escalate risks to schedule, cost, or integrity as appropriate.
• Act as a liaison among QA/QC, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Maintenance, construction management, and contractors to ensure clear communication of requirements and timely resolution of quality questions.
• Support audits, assessments, and readiness reviews by assembling evidence, coordinating responses, and ensuring actions are implemented and sustained.
• Reinforce safe work practices and integrate quality expectations into planning and execution activities, supporting mechanical integrity and reliability objectives.
