About the company
Mohawk Opportunities, Inc. operates Certified Community Residences located in Schenectady for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness who have a continuing need for rehabilitative services. This level of programming is intended to respond to the needs of individuals who have demonstrated an ability to live in a community setting but are not yet ready to live independently. As a Relief Counselor you will provide program support as needed.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities and Duties for the Relief Counselor include:
•
Providing supportive counseling.
•
Providing rehabilitation skills such as teaching of daily living skills including medication management and coping skills, crisis intervention and prevention.
•
Facilitating recreational activities for socialization and stress reduction.
•
Supervise medications.
•
Maintaining a healthy and clean environment for our clients ensuring clients are doing their chores correctly and by assisting with cleaning activities.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications for the Relief Counselor include:
•
High School Diploma or GED required.
•
Valid and insurable driver’s license preferred.
•
Ability to perform CPR/First Aid required. Training Provided.
•
Human Service Experience
•
Both the ability to work independently and as a team member
•
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Benefits
Salary and Schedule of the Relief Counselor position:
• Flexible hours. You sign up for available shifts. Must be available to work daytime, overnight, and weekend shifts. Must be available to work a minimum of 16 hours per month or a quarter for college students attending school out of town.
• Must be available to attend all mandated trainings.
• $21.46/hour.
