About the role
As an engineer focused on backend systems at Alchemy, you’ll be working with one of the most sophisticated and high-throughput distributed systems in the blockchain world. You’ll focus on architecting and building new systems as well as improving existing ones for a platform that supports millions of users globally. You’ll have the autonomy to shape technical solutions, influence architectural decisions, and own services throughout their lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
•
Design, build, and maintain backend infrastructure, APIs, and services at scale.
•
Own the architecture and implementation of distributed systems behind high-volume, low-latency APIs.
•
Solve hard scalability, latency, and performance problems in live production systems.
•
Lead system design discussions and shape the direction of our backend architecture.
•
Set the best practices for backend development—throughput, reliability, and latency.
•
Validate performance through automated testing, benchmarking, and production-driven improvements.
•
Trace production issues across services and the full stack, and ship fixes that durably improve reliability.
What We’re Looking For
•
5+ years of relevant industry experience.
•
BS/BA degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
•
Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining core backend components
•
Ability to solve complex design, scalability, latency, or performance problems in high-throughput, low-latency production systems.
•
Production experience with Java, Rust
•
