Why does this job exist and why is it critical?
Designs, architects, and manages global roaming networks. Integrates partners, optimises services across 2G/3G, 4G/LTE, 5G. Ensures seamless, secure, cost-effective international connectivity, driving business growth and enhancing customer experience.
Responsibilities
•
Roaming Design & Architecture: Lead the architectural design and evolution of international roaming solutions, including interconnects and security gateways, to support voice, data, and messaging services. Develop strategic roadmaps for new roaming services like VoLTE, 5G, and IoT roaming. Define technical specifications and requirements for deployments.

Roaming Footprint Expansion & Partner Integration: Manage technical assessment, testing, and integration of new international roaming partners (Inbound/Outbound) to expand network coverage. Ensure technical compliance with roaming agreements (e.g., IR.21, TADIG, AA.14) and industry standards.
•
Capacity Management & Optimisation: Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, and dimensioning for all roaming network elements (signalling, data, voice, SMS) to ensure efficient resource utilisation. Implement traffic engineering and route optimisation strategies to maintain high Quality of Service and cost-effectiveness.

Technical Expertise & Support: Act as the technical authority for complex roaming issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting and resolution to ensure seamless interoperability across network generations (2G/3G, 4G/LTE, 5G) and partner networks.

Strategic Roaming Evolution: Stay abreast of global roaming trends, standards, and regulatory changes, advising on their impact and necessary adaptations to maintain Maxis’ competitive edge. Contribute to strategic planning for roaming evolution and technology upgrades.

Commercial & Technical Alignment: Collaborate with commercial teams to identify and prioritise new roaming opportunities, translating business needs into technical requirements and solutions that drive business growth and revenue generation.
