About the role
The Jefferson Primary Care Research Center (PCRC) at Thomas Jefferson University seeks a senior PhD-level primary care researcher. The faculty member will be appointed within the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and supported by an endowed professorship. The center is a university-level structure that enhances the primary care research portfolio of the university, in alignment with the clinical mission of Jefferson Health. The PCRC offers an exceptional platform for faculty who want to conduct high-impact, practice-based research within one of the nation’s largest primary care systems, with access to more than 1 million patients and large clinical networks for prospective studies. The Center provides concrete infrastructure to accelerate faculty success, including pilot study funding, internal and external expert assistance with grant development and review, data analytic support, and facilitation of access to extensive EMR data for retrospective research. With strengths spanning primary care innovation, cardiovascular health, lifestyle medicine, geriatrics, cancer prevention, integrated behavioral health, palliative care, and women’s health, PCRC is positioned to help investigators build fundable, clinically meaningful research programs that can improve care at scale.
Jefferson Health is a 32-hospital system that cares for a total of >1,000,000 primary care patients across Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. Jefferson is full owner of Jefferson Health Plan, which provides insurance products in Medicaid, Medicare, ACA, and CHIP. Within the greater Philadelphia area, Jefferson Primary Care includes 98 practices serving 560,000 people across diverse communities, including an extensive network of community-based primary care sites in low-income neighborhoods. The Department of Family and Community Medicine is a nationally renowned academic department of over 50 faculty members, including three Divisions and three specialized Centers, with robust programming across clinical, research, educational, and community pillars.
