About the role
Why this role exists: Our Medical Assistants will provide safe, high-fidelity clinical support that bridges the gap between administrative preparation and provider intervention. By overseeing the clinical readiness of the patient through proactive rooming, accurate screenings, and empathetic education, you will ensure the integrity of the patient journey and maximize provider efficiency.
How You’ll Make an Impact: In this onsite role, you will report to the Center Administrator and shift from a “procedural assistant” to a Patient Specialist. Your primary responsibility is to protect the “Handoff Contract,” allowing providers to focus entirely on medical decision-making by ensuring every patient is clinically ready before the provider enters the room. You will complete core Medical Assistant work within established processes and use judgment to prioritize assigned work and escalate concerns appropriately.
What You Will Do
Intake and Clinical Rooming: Beyond standard vital signs, you will perform “Clinical Prep,” including verifying medication and allergies and conducting validated screenings, such as PHQ-9, Fall Risk. You will perform these core activities safely and consistently within established processes and applicable scope.
Inbox and Worklist Management: You will manage the EMR inbox using specific routing rules to handle patient messages, lab results, and medication adherence follow-ups with pharmacies. Your goal will be to provide a same-day “touch” for all tasks to maintain clinical flow. You will prioritize assigned tasks and escalate unclear, abnormal, or time-sensitive information appropriately.
Education and Loop-Back: You will be the “Instructional Bridge” by using the loop-back method to confirm patient understanding of next steps, reducing preventable rework and improving health outcomes.
