Atlassian’s Gen AI Platform team builds the shared foundation for creating, deploying, and operating production AI agents. We provide reusable runtimes, APIs, tools, plugins, and operational capabilities so product teams can focus on customer experiences.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys building reliable backend systems and platforms that make other engineers more effective.
Responsibilities
•
Build and operate backend services, APIs, libraries, and developer tools for our agent platform.
•
Own well-defined capabilities from design through testing, rollout, and production support.
•
Develop stable, self-service interfaces for defining agents, connecting tools, and extending platform behaviour.
•
Improve reliability, performance, observability, and developer experience.
•
Investigate failures across distributed services and agent execution flows.
•
Collaborate with product and platform teams and participate in code and design reviews.
•
Participate in on-call and turn operational learning into lasting improvements.
Pay Ranges
In The United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $150,300 - $196,225
Zone B: $135,270 - $176,603
Zone C: $124,749 - $162,867
Qualifications
•
Experience building and operating production backend or platform services.
•
Proficiency in a language such as TypeScript, Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python.
•
Understanding of APIs, asynchronous processing, data storage, cloud infrastructure, and testing.
•
Sound judgment around correctness, reliability, maintainability, and delivery trade-offs.
•
Strong learning agility and clear communication.
Nice to have
Experience with AI agents, LLM applications, MCP, developer platforms, distributed runtimes, or Kubernetes is desirable but not required.
