Hello, future Sr. Manager of Copy and Brand Storytelling
This is the person currently in your role. For full dramatic effect, please read this in Dakota Johnson’s voice. I don’t like job descriptions. They’re boring, and I’m convinced no one actually reads them. Plus, I don’t think a regular JD is capable of capturing the true magic of what it is to work here. Don’t worry, there are actual bullet points down below for those of you who need things like “responsibilities” and “qualifications.” blah blah blah
Here’s what you really need to know:
Number one: The creative team at Grüns is 1 of 1.
At risk of sounding like a boomer using Gen Z slang, this job is extremely vibe-based.
Nothing is that serious, except for how much everyone cares about the work and each other.
In the wise words of every man who’s ever answered a Hinge prompt, we’re looking for someone *who doesn’t take themselves too seriously.*It’s a gummy bear brand. As long as you don’t get us sued, for God’s sake, have some fun.
Number two: You are, quite literally, the voice of the brand.
With the help of your partner in crime, our brilliant Junior Copywriter, you’ll own pretty much everything Grüns has to say.
Campaigns. Scripts. New brand launches. Collaborations. Retail.
This isn’t a job for someone who waits around to be told what to do. If you think something could be better, make it better. If you have an idea, pitch it. If nobody asked for it but you think it would be fucking funny, tell our CD.
That’s the beauty of this role. You have a ridiculous amount of creative freedom, and lots of times, the “Stakeholders” are the ones coming up with the crazy ideas in the first place.
Number two point five: About that partner in crime.
You’ll manage our Junior Copywriter.
That means giving thoughtful feedback, bringing her into the bigger thinking, helping her develop her voice and instincts, and giving her room to own things herself.
You should genuinely enjoy mentoring someone, not just tolerate it because “management experience” looks good on LinkedIn.
Number three: You shouldn’t just be a writer.
Being a great writer is obviously important, but it’s not the whole thing.
You’ll concept social ideas alongside our Social Media Manager. You’ll write scripts that shape how the brand comes to life across social, TV, and whatever screen we end up on next.
You’ll work with our Art Director and Creative Director to build entirely new brands from scratch. You’ll partner with our SVP and VP of Brand to flesh out collaborations.
You’ll work with Legal to figure out how to say shit without getting sued.
You’ll work with Retail to bring the brand to life in the aisle of your favorite overpriced grocery store.
You’ll work with Growth and Ecomm to make sure the brand still feels like the brand when someone lands on the site.
Basically, you’ll work with pretty much everyone.
So if you’re looking for a job where someone hands you a brief, you write a few headlines, and then disappear into the night, this probably isn’t it.
