About the role
NOVOS FiBER is seeking a highly analytical Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This critical role supports both NOVOS FiBER and PRIME FiBER, reporting directly to the Director of Finance & Accounting.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between day-to-day accounting operations, capital project budgeting, and strategic corporate financial analysis. You will take ownership of tracking capital expenditures (CAPEX) for our expanding network infrastructure, manage budget-to-actual variance reporting, analyze spend trends, and play an active role in our month-end close processes.
As a Staff Accountant, your key responsibilities include:
•
CAPEX & Fixed Asset Management: Track capital expenditures against fiber project budgets, maintain tight controls over Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting, and manage the full asset lifecycle from multi-entity allocation through depreciation.
•
Financial Analysis & Variance Reporting: Prepare monthly budget-to-actual variance analyses for department heads
•
Vendor & Contractor Financial Oversight: Act as the primary financial liaison for high-value vendors and construction partners, managing complex invoice reconciliation, milestone payment structures, and contract compliance.
•
Spend & Cost Optimization Analysis: Conduct ad hoc analysis on corporate expenditures, historical contractor/vendor pricing trends, and contract compliance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
•
GL Integrity & Coding Governance: Review transaction workflows to ensure precise GL account, class, and project/task coding. Directly manage and correct coding exceptions in NetSuite before data hits the general ledger.
•
Month-End Close Management: Prepare monthly capital accruals, amortization schedules, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure a timely close cycle.
•
Accounts Receivable & Revenue Audit: Support cash flow tracking by assisting with AR aging research, revenue reconciliation, and billing analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a highly quantitative field.
•
1–3 years of experience in corporate accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), project accounting, or fixed asset management.
•
Strong working knowledge of GAAP, fixed asset accounting rules, capital vs. expense rules, and advanced GL structures.
•
NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
•
Advanced Excel skills are non-negotiable (must be highly proficient with XLOOKUP, Index/Match, nested formulas, dynamic pivot tables, and financial modeling).
•
Excellent communication skills with the financial acumen to present data clearly to internal department leads and constructively challenge over-budget expenditures or project overruns.
Preferred Qualifications:
•
Experience with multi-entity corporate accounting and intercompany capital allocations or eliminations.
•
Prior background in telecom, fiber utilities, construction, or CAPEX-heavy infrastructure industries.
Success in this role looks like:
•
Fiber deployment builds are tracked accurately, and WIP balances are cleaned up and capitalized on time.
•
Month-end close deliverables, capital accruals, and fixed asset reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule.
•
Department leaders and project managers have real-time visibility into their budget utilization through crisp, accurate variance reporting.
•
Coding errors are proactively caught and resolved, ensuring clean financial data and seamless audits.
