About the Opportunity
Job Summary:
Northeastern University’s Experiential Digital Global Education Division (EDGE) is seeking a part-time Studio Multimedia Producer (SMP) to help create innovative educational media content in support of the teaching and learning goals of our digital learning products. EDGE drives Northeastern’s growth goals and digital strategy broadly by serving two functions: 1. Providing digital learning design and development services to Northeastern’s schools and colleges 2. Works with colleges & corporate partners connecting learning to employees and professionals.
The Studio Multimedia Producer supports EDGE’s video and multimedia production operations, providing hands-on technical execution for video and audio studio recordings, live and live-to-tape productions, and post-production workflows that power Northeastern’s learning partnerships and digital learning products.
This role operates primarily within a fixed studio/control-room environment and works closely with Learning Enablement, Digital Strategy, and Program Delivery teams to deliver polished, broadcast-quality content on tight production schedules.
WORK EXPECTATIONS
Requirements
•
Ranging from 5 to 20 hrs/week
•
This role is primarily Boston based, with video shoots in person, while editing and conducting meetings may be done remotely
•
Must be able to regularly commute to the EDGE Studio in Boston, in person days are based on Studio need
•
Availability for occasional evening or weekend production schedules
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
1)
Studio Production & Technical Execution
•
Operate studio production equipment including cameras, video switchers, lighting grids, teleprompters, and audio mixing consoles for recorded and live-to-tape sessions
•
Set up, calibrate, and strike studio configurations for a range of production formats: single-camera interviews, multi-camera panel discussions, and green-screen/virtual-set recordings
•
Provide technical direction during live and recorded shoots, troubleshooting signal flow, audio levels, and lighting issues in real time
•
Ensure all recordings meet EDGE’s technical and brand quality standards prior to delivery
2)
Post-Production Support & Equipment Stewardship
•
Perform basic post-production tasks, including ingest, file management, rough assembly, and quality control review prior to handoff to digital media team members
•
Maintain studio equipment inventory, perform routine maintenance, and flag equipment needs or upgrades
Minimum Qualifications:
•
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience
•
2+ years’ experience in studio or broadcast production, video production, or a closely related field.
•
Demonstrated proficiency with professional video switchers, lighting instruments, and multi-channel audio consoles.
•
Working knowledge of signal flow, camera operation, and studio control-room workflows.
•
Familiarity with non-linear editing platforms (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) for basic post-production tasks.
•
Adeptness in recording and editing with multiple audio/video equipment formats.
•
Color correction, audio effects, and other advanced editing skills.
•
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to take on new projects and assignments on short notice.
•
Strong organizational skills while working on multiple projects and completing high-quality work against strict and conflicting deadlines.
•
Proven ability to work effectively with vendors and collaborate with team members.
•
Ability to maintain focus on priorities while multi-tasking and thrive in an agile environment.
•
Positive and professional attitude; interest in learning new skills.
•
Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
•
