About the role
Empowerment Academy Charter School has an opening for a part-time school year Custodian. Approximate hours: 9:00am-2:00pm on school days in the Jersey City Heights.
$18.00-$19.00/hr
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•
Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming (using a 20 lb. vacuum daily for 3-4 hours), wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying the trash (lifting waste paper and debris - minimum of 55 lbs.) and pencil sharpeners, cleaning whiteboards, and disinfecting drinking fountains.
•
Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters). Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.
•
Ensure that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.
•
Must be able to go up and downstairs and undertake bending and standing as needed in a daily shift.
•
Promptly report major repairs as needed to the Head Custodian.
•
Maintain the appearance of hallways throughout the building by washing and buffing floors. This work cannot be done when students are in class.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•
Relate in a professional manner with students, faculty, administration and community patrons.
•
Carry and answer radio at all times on school grounds.
•
Submit information and data as requested.
•
Regularly monitor school email for pertinent communication.
•
Complete paperwork as requested.
•
Complete training courses as assigned.
INDOPERATIONS
Requirements
Qualifications:
•
High School diploma or G.E.D.
•
Able to pass DOE criminal background check
•
Low Pressure Boilers License / Black Seal is a plus
•
Experience working in a school setting a plus
•
Effective interpersonal skills
•
Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally’
