Job Description Summary
Wind turbines operate in some of the harshest environments on Earth, and the mechanical structures that hold them together have to perform flawlessly for decades. As a Mechanical Engineer on our Nacelle & Frames team, you’ll take ownership of the structural components (composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals, and louvers) that keep turbines running safely and reliably in the field. You’ll work alongside senior engineers who will guide your growth, while you bring fresh thinking to how these components are designed, tested, and improved.
This is a hands-on engineering role where your solutions directly shape turbines operating around the world and where solving a tough technical problem today means a more reliable, more efficient energy source tomorrow.
Job Description
What You’ll Do
•
Design and develop mechanical structural components for wind turbines, including composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals, and louvers
•
Partner with System, Sub-System, and Component Engineers to integrate your designs into the overall turbine architecture, meeting turbine and interface requirements
•
Own the detailed engineering specifications and drawings used to source turbine components, ensuring they meet GE Vernova and industry quality standards
•
Conduct technical risk assessments and build risk mitigation plans, including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), design verification, and validation test plans
•
Support the resolution of safety and functional issues on turbines already in the field
•
Apply a systems-thinking approach — understanding how a change to your component ripples across the broader turbine design
•
Bring standard design practices, tools, and lessons learned into your work to continuously sharpen how the team designs
